Our Medical Director, Dr. Stephen J. Fynaardt, is a General Practitioner with a special interest in Dermatology. He graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and has been with our hospital since 1974. Dr. Fynarrdt enjoys mentoring young men and women in the field of science. He is very proud of his six current veterinarians, four human physicians and five animal health technicians that have been associated or worked with him during their college years. In addition to mentoring students on his own over the last 30 years, Dr. Fynaardt has been active in VCA's Externship program for graduating veterinary students. He has also been very active in other community efforts. He is involved with the Boy Scouts of America and the our local schools in their "future professions" classes. One of his great joys is seeing the grandchildren of many of his previous and present clients coming in with their new pets.
